Hunter - Tied arteries together
Pasteur - Germ theory
Lister - Carbolic acid (antiseptic)
Koch - different bacteria caused different diseases and that there is more than one type of bacteria
Nightingale - Helped solders in the Crimean war
Simpson - chloroform
Jenner - smallpox vaccine
Chadwick - Reformer and used statistics and linked them with poverty
Snow - Discovered cholera was caused by dirty water not miasma

Germ theory
Miasma - slowly started getting proved wrong

Germ theory- Clean hospitals, clean homes and wash hands (basic hygiene)
Vaccines - Smallpox vaccine
What was public health like during the industrial time period?
No clean water - caused cholera
Living conditions - crammed and it was easy to spread disease
Public health act - some funding was given to local councils but it was up to the councils if they wanted to do it
Laissez-Fare - government approach to do nothing about public health

Blood loss - Slightly improved because of the knowledge of arteries
