Inductive Logic Flashcards
General conjunction
When 1 event affects the next (not replacing card)
P(A+B)=P(A) x P(B, if A)
Restricted conjunction
Independent events (flip coin) P(A+B)=P(A) x P(B)
Restricted disjunction
Events not mutually exclusive- rolling die and getting 6 OR 4
P(A v B)= P(A) + P(B)
General disjunction
Calculating prob when 2 events are not mutually exclusive (tossing tails twice)
P(A v B)= [P(A)+P(B)] - [P(A) x P(B)]
Negation
1- known probability
Population
Any group of objects
Sample
Subset of the population
Disanalogy
To point out differences between 2 things
Counteranalogy
New competing argument- compare thing in question to something else
Unintended consequences
The realization that an argument you made before supports an argument against you now- response is to either accept the consequence or weaken original argument.
