Allocate appropriately to carry out duties and ease workload off others.
Medically redeploy to more suitable role if appropriate.
Use PTSIA, Stage 1 UPP, home visits for staff sickness
Therefore save money on overtime to cover sickness

Manage resources
Make sure that sufficient officers are always on duty
Forward plan to spot any problems
Adequate staffing prevents burnout etc and stops sickness
Wellbeing of staff to prevent sickness
Mental Health support to keep officers focused
All officers are suitably equipped
Officers are responding and dealing with incidents in a timely manner
Training and equipment enhances officer safety
Use data-driven policing, Team Accountability Packs, intelligence
Assign offices based on their skill set,
Focus of key threats and force priorities
BWV improves accountability and reduces paperwork
Strengthen ties with communities to gather intelligence
Cross-agency cooperation
Reduce bureaucracy and paperwork by streamlining procedures

Manage Capability
Officers are up to date with all their training
If an officer attends a course not available to all, get them to provide a presentation on a training day to feedback learning
New laws and policies require up-to-date knowledge and skills
Use training days to update officers on new procedures
Use reward and recognition to reinforce good performance
Use de-briefs/briefings to talk through and have a Q&A in relation jobs that where there is learning.
Create a culture of continuous learning where staff ask each other questions
Use reminders such as posters, PDF’s, have Teams channels for resources and system processes

Constantly reviewing staffing levels well in advance so that RMU’s can plan ahead
Making sure 1-2-1’s and PDR’s are being done that will cover officer welfare to prevent officers going off sick
Check the daily rolling log every day to view any problems that may have occur and place on your radar for future planning

Spot check things like use of kit, crime records for efficiency
Be aware of themes for recognition and complaints.
Are people working efficiently, constantly sat in the station

Continuous training and professional development.
Make sure that I and all staff are up to date with their training.
Encourage officers to take part in all training offered

Get all officers to embrace technology and use it - promote the benefits
Consider visiting other forces and inviting them to peer review
