1) Describe all least two features of Mohenjodaro or Harappa that make them seem advanced for ancient times.
On PG 160 it says Mohenjodaros sewer system was designed to remove waste water from houses. These ruins complex system of drains,pipes, wells, and bathrooms. Mohenjodaro has a more advanced sewer system than others at its time.
On PG 161 it says Mohenjodaro Homes were lined centered and organized streets the homes were two floored and one home has one to a dozen rooms. There houses are made of mud brick and the screens for windows were made of terracotta.
2) How do you think the Eightfold Path is similar to the Ten Commandments?
I Think the Eightfold Path is similar to the Ten Commandments because they both are rules to follow to have order in society=> to lead a good life,be a positive member of society.
3) Compare and contrast (tell the similarities and differences between) Hinduism and Buddhism. Use the following words: reincarnation, karma, and dharma.
Similarities: Hinduism and Buddhism both believe in reincarnation, karma, and dharma they both don’t believe in the afterlife.
Differences Hindu : Hinduism was founded by multiple people, Had many deities, Hindu ancient writings=> Vedas, cycle of reincarnation ends when soul is reunited with Brahmen, Four main classes were Brahmans, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras.
Differences Buddha : Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Guatarra, no gods, Four Noble Truths/Eightfold Path=> ends suffering, Eightfold Path leads to enlightenment=> ends reincarnation, and Buddhists didn’t acknowledge varnas => social classes/ caste.
4) Name and describe 1 contribution made to society by the Gupta Empire.
Universities: Universities in the Gupta Empire taught a lot of subjects like medicine, mathematics,surgery, literature, art, and astronomy so many different subjects. This contribution to society could be the earliest form of modern day school.
5) Compare and contrast the Mauryan and Gupta Empires.
Different Mauryan Empire: Fought for land, embraced Buddhist values, setted up edicts, people were stilll punished for serious crimes, and rejected violence to find a more peaceful way to rule.
Similar: Both setted up a central government , both united India.
Different Gupta Empire: Was a golden age, smaller than the Mauryan Empire, embraced a variety of subjects, and their empire was the largest that India had known since the days of the Mauryas.
