Governor Dalhousie
Lord Dalhousie was Governor-General of India from 1848 to 1856.
He implemented a series of reforms known as the “Dalhousie Reforms,” including the Doctrine of Lapse, which allowed the British to annex Indian states without natural heirs.
He also introduced the railway system and modernized the postal system in India.
Dalhousie is controversial for his policies of annexation, which caused resentment and contributed to the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
His legacy in India is still debated and controversial.
William Bentinck
British colonial administrator who served as the Governor-General of India from 1828 to 1835. He is known for his social and administrative reforms, including the abolition of sati, suppressing thuggee and the introduction of English education.
