the core of a country is where the important decisions are made. this doesn’t need to be central, but it’s quite developed
periphery
the periphery is outside of the core. it’s not as developed and less important decisions are made here
where are the most developed places in India?
generally the south west such as kerala, but there’s also high development i the north in punjab
primary industry
it’s people that work in extracting raw materials such as farming
secondary industry
anyone working in manufacturing such as working in a factory or manufacturing independently
tertiary industry
people that work to provide services to others such as teachers and the nhs
quaternary industry
people who research and develop things to improve them such as researchers and scientists
what is a population pyramid and what does it do?
-it shows data about the population (demographics)
-it’s a sideways bar graph that shows the sex and age of the population
-the data comes from the census which is a survey completed by one person n behalf of a household, it’s completed every ten years, in the first year of the decade (2001)
-it’s the law to complete it
what has happened to fertility rates?
they have gone down, meaning people are having less children
-this may be because of the cost of living crisis or because of women may want to work more
what has happened to the infant mortality rate?
-it has gone down
-this may be because more people have access to free healthcare
-this means babies can have more antibiotics and vaccinations to stop communicable diseases
what is urbanisation?
this means the act of more people moving to live and work in urban areas
-this could make people have less kids as they don’t need them
to work on farms and things
-it’s also more expensive
what is informal housing?
informal housing is when you cannot afford to live in government housing or there simply isn’t enough space
this means you do not have a bus route, acces to water, electricity, heating and limits you from getting jobs
you will also have pretty bad living conditions
what is foreign policy?
a policy which a country adapts to decide how they will behave towards other countries
