GA Post History
Created in 1970 by Georgia General Assembly to establish law enforcement training standards and to administer minimum pre-employment requirements
Post Council
19 voting members, 10 member appointed by the governor, 9 member by virtue of holding office in law enforcement related associations, also 5 advisory members appointed without voting privileges
Post Staff
Composed of an executive office and 4 divisions

Peace Officer sanctions
Authorizes council to refuse to grant a certificate to an applicant or to discipline and exempt to certified peace officer for certain conduct
Officer discipline time line
Any certified peace officer who has disciplinary action taken against them shall notify the Post council within 15 days of said action
Training hour requirement
Each certified peace officer must successfully complete a minimum of 20 hours in service training annually or will lose their power to arrest

Takes 6-10 weeks to appear, could take from 5-10 years to get sick

Disease of the liver, can be found in almost all body fluids, can live up to 7 days outside of body
Crime Victim Compensation Act
A victim can request compensation from the state for certain losses that occur as a result of being victims of crime
Crime Victim Compensation Act eligibility
Victims who have been physically injured in a violent crime includes but not limited to: homicide, sexual assault, child abuse, domestic/family violence, DUI crashes…ect, 2 times per year, up to $25,000 cap
