MOI: compression, damage to ant. part of SC or ant. spinal artery
–> cervical flexion

Sx:
Loss of motor fxn
Loss of pain and temp

Tracts:
Corticospinal
Spinothalamic

A

–> cervical hyperextension

Sx:
UE > LE
motor > sensory

A

MOI: hemisection of SC, stab wound

Sx:
Paralysis
Loss of vibratory & position sense (ipsi)
Loss of pain & temp (contra)

Tracts:
Corticospinal and dorsal columns
Lateral spinothalamic

Loss of proprioception
Loss of 2-pt discrim
Loss of stereognosis

  • Considered peripheral nerve injury

Sx:
Flaccidity
Areflexia
