Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
A
May indicate future CVA
Usually linked to atherosclerotic thrombosis
– causes temp interruption of blood supply to area of brain
Effects –> similar to CVA but sx resolve quickly (w/in 24-48 hours)
Most often:
- Carotid artery
- Vertebrobasilar artery

Completed Stroke
A
CVA that presents with total neuro deficits at onset

Stroke in Evolution
A
Usually caused by thrombus that gradually progresses
Total neuro deficitis not seen for 1-2 days after onset
