What do you think inclusive environments is?
- Designing Buildings and spaces which are accessable to all and if done propertly will not add cost.
- Aims to enable everyone to participate
- Creating an environment that everyone want to be in to help productivity
What is diversity of user needs?
- Community - Accessability
- Healthy buildings - Promote pleasant environments
- Sound - Is there too much sound from building works etc
- Movement/accessibility / vibration - How to move around a buiilding. Vibration from plant machinery
- Environment/space/working experience - Space, occupancy levels
- Light - natural light for working conditions
- Water - testing/quality
- Indoor enronmental quality
- Thermal comfort, heat, CO2 and fresh air - Not too hot or cold, air conditioning
- Effects wellbeing/productivity - Good wellbeing creates better productivity

Why create Inclusive environments?
- To help tackling social disadvantagess - Dilapidated towns/streets overcrowded or badly insualted housing
- To help economic inequality - The rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer
- Social cohesion - Creating a boundary line which divides ethnic communiities = them and us mentality.
- A new shopping mall near to a town will hurt the local high street
- Gentrification can improve neiighbourhoods as it is a process of renovation
- An ageing population - As the population is getting older then housiinig needs to change to meet the needs.
- Health inequalities - Having poor access to poorly designed street, parks and neighbourhoods increases physical inactivity which is detramental to health.
- Street promoting pedestrians and cyclists over motorists.
- From a business sence for improve productivity
Can you name the 9 protected characteristics of The Equility Act 2010?
- Age - Covers both young and old
- Disability - Where a person has a physiical or mental impairment
- Gender Reassignment - where a persons is considering changing genders
- Marriage and Ciivil Partnership - whether married or not also recognises same sex couples
- Pregnancy and Maternity - no discriminatiion becouse they are pregnant or on materniity leave
- Race - Race, Colour and Nationality
- Religion and/or belief - Religion beleifs including Atheism
- Sex - Men and Women must be treated equally
- Sexual Orientation - Own sex, oppossite sex or both sexes
What is a resonable adjustment within the Equality Act?
- Existing buildiings would have needed to have provided ramps for access if thehy only had steps.
- For new build it is easier to consider the access right from the start.
What does the National Planning Policy Framework 2019 do/state?
- Sets out the Governments planning policy for England

What does the draft New London Plan (2018) state?

What does Part M of the Approved Document state:
- If provides minimum functional requirements to be met relating to accessibility.
- These include size of door opening for wheelchair access
- Size of lift.
- The size and gradiant of pathways
