What happens when a warning light comes on?
Stop immediately (safely) and investigate the problem
What do you do if your tyre bursts?
hold the steering wheel firmly
pull up slowly or roll to a stop at the side of the road
What should you do if you breakdown on a motorway?
reach the next exit or service area
If not steer vehicle on the left lane, into an emergency area or hard shoulder, beyind the emergency phone.
call 999 if you cannot get out of your vehicle
if you break down on a level crossing, get everyone out of the car and call the signal operator.
If your vehicle or a behicle in front in a tunnel breakdown what shoud you do?
- switch off the engine
- switch on the hazard warning lights
- go and call for help form the nearest emergency telehone point
How and why should you use a warning triangle?
place it 45 metres (147 feet) behind your vehicle but never use it on a motorway
it warns others you have broken down
What should you do when you arrive at a incident/crash?
- call emergecy services
- ensure any engines of any vehicles are switched off
- move uninjured people away from the scene
- a vechicle carrying dangerous goods will display an orange label/ hazard warning plate. Report what it says to emergency services.
What should you do to an injured person if you do not know any first aid?
- call emergency services
- keep them warm and comfortable
-keep them calm - make sure they are not left alone.
what should you not do to an injured person?
- never remove the helmet form a motocyclist unles essential
- never offer any food/drink
What should you do if you need to provide emergency care?
DR ABC code
Danger (check if it is safe to approach)
Response (try to get a response - ask if they are okay)
Airway (if there is no response, open their airway by placing fingers under tehir chin and lifting it forward
Breathing - start CPR if no signs of breathing
for infant - use two fingers
Child- one hand
What are warning signs of shock?
sweating, pale grey skin, rapid pulse
What should you do if they are suffering from burns?
douse the burns with cool water for 20 mins
Crash- What should you do if another vehicle is involved?
find out
- whether the other driver owns the vehicle
- the drivers anme, address, number, details of their iinsurnace
- the make and registration number of the vehicle
An adult casualty isnt breathing. When doing CPR, how far should you press down on their chest?
5-6 cm

120 times per minute
