In Cab Inspection Flashcards
Seat Belt
Demonstrate the seat belt is securely fastened and adjusts properly, is not ripped or frayed, and the assembly is securely mounted.
Safety Start
Set the parking brake, depress the clutch, place the gearshift lever in neutral, ignition in the on position, start the engine, and release the clutch slowly.
ABS Check
With the ignition on, check the dashboard to insure the ABS lighting indicator illuminates and turns off.
Mirrors
They should be clean, be properly adjusted, and not damaged.
Windshield
It should be clean, have nothing that impairs vision, and no damage.
Wipers
Activate to check arms and blades, operate smoothly, are secure, and not cracked or damaged.
Washers
Check the windshield washers operate correctly.
Horns
Check that the air horn and electric horn work.
Voltmeter
With the engine running, check the voltmeter gauge shows the alternator is charging and the warning light is off.
Temperature Gauge
Check the gauge is working and begins to climb to the normal operating range or that the warning light is off.
Oil Pressure Gauge
With the engine running, check the oil pressure gauge is building pressure and no warning light.
Dashboard Indicator Lights
Activate and inform the tester that the left and right turn signal indicators work, the 4-way emergency flash indicator works, and the high beam indicator works.
Air Supply Gauge
With the engine running, check the air pressure gauge(s) are working properly. Check the vehicle has adequate air supply in the tank reservoir. Build the air pressure to the governed cutout at 120-140 psi.
Heater and Defroster
Check that both the heater and defroster fan works.
Emergency and Safety Equipment
Check the fire extinguisher is properly charged, stored, rated and secured. Check for spare electrical fuses. Identify where the warning devices are stored. Check for three reflective triangles.
