In Cab Air Brakes Flashcards
Use Primary Air Gauge for all Tests
Governor Cut Out Test
Safety start. vehicle in neutral, air valves applied, push in clutch and start the engine. Raise the RPM’s no more than 1500 and the governor should cut out at no more than 140 psi.
Governor Cut Out Test Statement
My governor cut out at ____ psi and it did not go above 140. During this test I watched my primary gauge and listened for the air blast. My governor cut out at ____ psi and I know that because the primary needle quit moving.
One Minute Air Leak Test Statement
Step on the service break, I am currently at ___ psi. I am going to set my timer for one minute starting now. My minute is now up and I lost 0 psi.
One Minute Air Leak Test
Put truck in low gear, stop the engine, release the clutch, release air brake valve, make sure to let air stop hissing. Cannot leak more than 4 psi.
Low Air Warning Test
Turn on the key, lower the pressure to between 75-55 psi by stepping on the service break. The warning light and buzzer should sound
Low Air Warning Test Statement
A light has appeared and a buzzer has sounded at ___ psi. telling me I have low air pressure. My system did not go below 55 psi.
Emergency Spring Break Test
Turn the key off. lower the pressure between 45-20 psi by stepping on the service break until the valve pops out
Emergency Spring Break Test Statement
My valve popped out at ___ psi. and my system did not go below 20 psi.
Second Governor Cut Out
Safety start… vehicle in neutral, air valves applied, press in clutch and turn on the engine.
Second Governor Cut Out Statement
I am going to build pressure to maximum capacity between 120-140 psi and not raise my RPM by more than 1500. My governor cut out at ___ psi and it did not go above 140.
Trailer Brakes Test
Vehicle running and in low gear, release tractor brake, release clutch slowly, “My trailer brakes are holding, my system is working properly”
Tractor Brake Test
Apply tractor break and release trailer brake. “My tractor brakes are holding and my system is working properly.”
