Q

What are the 2 applications of impulse?

A
  1. The use of sand in long jump for a softer landing, a smaller stopping force is applied over a longer time.
  2. In a car crash, cars momentum is reduced to 0 in a very short time. Which is extended using crumple zones, air-bags and extendible seat belts. The average force needed to stop the car is reduced so injury to passengers is less.
