Flexion
Decreasing the angle between bones
Extension
Increasing the angle between bones
Abduction
Moving a body part away from the midline
Adduction
Moving a body part towards the midline
Medial (Internal) Rotation
rotating a bone inward
Lateral (External) Rotation
rotating a bone outward
Elevation
Moving in a superior direction
Depression
Moving in an inferior direction
Pronation
Eg. Pivoting the forearm so the palm is posterior
Supernation
Eg. Pivoting the forearm so the palm is anterior
Dorsiflexion
Eg. Extending the foot in a superior direction (Think towards the dorsal fin which is on the back)
Plantarflexion
Eg. Flexing the foot in an inferior direction
Eversion
Eg. Moving the sole of the foot outwards, away from the midline
Inversion
Eg. Pointing the sole of the foot inwards, towards the midline
Protraction/protrusion
Eg. Pusing your jaw/scapula anteriorly
