The Spanish had control over Cuba. They made promises they couldn’t keep, so the Cubans revolted. no one in America cared, until the Cuban rebels started to destroy American property. It benefited the united states because if they won the fight, it gave America the right to take Spanish land. The policy was imperialism

The Americans would buy sugar from Hawaii, it was one of the last non imperialized zones. The government passed the Mckinley tariff raising sugar taxes putting Hawaii into a economic depression.

A

president Roosevelt wanted to build a bridge to link the pacific and Atlantic oceans for strategic and economic benefits. But a French building company was already doing it in Panama. The Americans bought the right to build it but it went against the Columbians (which owned the island) so the Columbians revolted and became its own country. Which then gave the Americans the right to build the canal. The policy was the monroe doctrine
