16
Q

Are there position alarms for both left and right sided Impellas?

A

No. There are no position alarms for the Impella RP

17
Q

What are the 3 main reasons for a suction alarm?

A

Low volume in left ventricle.
Incorrect pump position.
Right heart failure.

18
Q

What do you do with a suction alarm?

A

Drop the P level by 1-2, reassess fluid status. Drop P level by 1-2 each time until suction alarm goes away. Do no go below P-2. If unable to resolve, notify receiving.

19
Q

How do you troubleshoot a Purge Pressure high alarm?

A

Check purge fluid tubing for kinks. If not resolved, contact receiving.

20
Q

How do you troubleshoot a Purge Pressure low alarm?

A

Check purge fluid tubing for leaks or loose connections. If not resolved, contact receiving.

21
Q

How do you troubleshoot an Air in Purge Line Alarm?

A

Click the Purge Menu button and then De-Air Purge System. Follow the prompts.

22
Q

Which pressure measurement do you use for patient care decisions and status?

A

MAP

23
Q

Which P setting do you utilize during CPR?

A

P-2

24
Q

What waveform needs to be assessed after achieving ROSC?

A

Motor current needs to be pulsatile. If not pulsatile, keep P level at P-2 and notify receiving. If it is pulsatile, increase P level to the previous level.

25
Q

Which P level is required for defibrillation?

A

No requirement. Defibrillate at any time at any level.

26
Q

Where should the head of bed be during transport?

A

No greater than 30 degrees.

27
Q

What are you assessing for at the insertion site?

A

Hematoma and bleeding.

28
Q

Should the Impella be flat against the skin at insertion site?

A

No. It should be ramped up at the angle of insertion. Flat against skin can cause bleeding.

29
Q

Why are inotropes sometimes utilized with Impellas?

A

Impellas are preload dependent. The inotrope helps move fluid from the right side to the left side where the Impella sits.

30
Q

Impellas are preload ______ and afterload ______.

A

preload dependent and afterload sensitive

31
Q

What is the phone number for 24/7 Impella help?

A

1-800-422-8666
