A

Pay was much better in the army than working as a farmer. Demand for supplies did boost industry and supply jobs

Plundering

A

Soldiers entering enemy territory would steal supplies from villages . Many would raid and kill the communities until these villages would pay enough money to the soldiers so that they would leave .

Money would be demanded from enemy communities for their protection and the release of captives
