- This is a huge problem as 74% of the Inidan population live in villages and are reliant on their farmlands as their livelihoods

Lack of trickle down
A
- Benefits of FDI have a very small likelihood of tricking down
- For example in the software industry
- Income of the High tech industry are empt from the 38.5% income tax
- High tech companies do not have to pay the 40-60% custom duties on computers
- Upadhyay,U.2000)
- Loss of valuable revenue that could have been invested into social welfare
- New capital comes in is likely to go into the production of goods that have a greater purchasing power where the majority of profits lie. This neglects the bulk population in India therefore intensifying inequality (Naidu,G.2006)
