viral fevers usually have low WBCs, here increased WBCs

- Confirmatory test
- detects IgM Ab in the second week

Rx
A
- Usually self- resolving
- Steroids if neuro Sx (encephalitis, meningitis, GBS) or if reduced plts, airway obstruction due to tonsil enlargement or hemolysis

- Neuro involvement ( Encephalitis, meningitis, GBS)
- Hemolysis
- Marked thrombocytopenia
- Tonsilar enlargement
