Immunotherapies Flashcards
1
Q
Ipilimumab(Yervoy®)
A
Ipilimumab(Yervoy®)
- Mechanism of action: blocks the Cytotoxic T-Cell Lymphocyte associated Antigen (CTLA-4) inhibitory signal, and allows the CTLs to destroy the cancer cells
- Indicated for treatment of melanoma
- Side effects are immunological-related: rash, diarrhea, thyroid
2
Q
Anti-Programmed Cell Death-1 (PD-1)
A
Anti-Programmed Cell Death-1 (PD-1)
- PD-1 (Programmed Cell Death) is an inhibitory signaling receptor expressed on activated T cells, enhance the ability of T cells to kill tumor
Drugs:
- Pembrolizumab(Keytruda®), Nivolumab(Opdivo®) –PD-1 inhibitor
- Atezolizumab(Tecentriq®), Avelumab(Bavencio®) –PD-L1 inhibitor
