immunosuppresents Flashcards
azathioripine mechanism of action
Suppressed T cell effects
azathioripine nursing interventions
give oral drug in divided doses
monitor leukocyte count, platelets and bleeding times
belatacept (nulijox) mechanism of action
inhibition of T cell proliferation and cytokine production
belatacept (nulijox) nursing actions
contraindicated with EBV seronegativity (or unknown status), liver transplantation. breastfeeding, monitor for S/s of infection, HTN, progressive multifocal luekoencephalopathy, administer IV
cyclosporine mechanism of action
selective reversible inhibition of Tcell activation
cyclosporine nursing actions
do not give with grapefruit juice. give immediately after mixing, observe for s/s of adverse reactions. be aware of nephrotoxicity, give with food to prevent gastrointestinal upset
give at same time everyday
everolimus mechanism of actions
protein tyrosine kinase inhibitor
everolimus nursing actions
monitor for hypersensitivity
watch for changes in pulmonary status and cough
avoid administration of live vaccines
administer at the same time every day with food do not crush/chew tablet
mycophenolate mechanism of action
inhibits t and b cells
nursing interventions for mycophenate
administer on an empty stomach do not crush or chew tablets wash thoroughly if you come in contact with the powder obtain baseline blood count instruct patient to avoid OTC antacids
prednisone mechanism of action
inhibits response of T and B helper cells
prednisone nursing interventions
give with food can be crushed needs to be weaned off weight, Bgts, sleep patterns monitor for hypocalcemia
sirolimus nursing interventions
inhibits helper b and t cells
administer 4 hours after oral cyclosporine
do not crush or chew tablet
refrigerate drug and protect from direct light
avoid grape fruit juice
limit exposure to direst sunlight
sirolimus mechanism of action
inhibits response of helper t and b cells
tacrolimus mechanism of action
inhbits t cell lymphocytes
