Immunology Flashcards
What are the receptor and ligand for APC and T cells?
CD28 on T cells, B7 on APC
What are the receptor and ligand for B cells and T cells?
CD40L on T cells, CD40 receptor on B cells
What is IL-2’s receptor?
CD25
What is the most important inflammatory factor in the body?
TNF
What is the function of TNF? alpha, beta, gamma?
antiviral activity, tumoricidal effect
alpha and beta made by macrophages
gamma made by T cells and stimulates macrophages (activates them)
What is IL2 made by? What does it stimulate?
made by T cells, stimulates B cells and macrophages
What is IL-4’s function?
Bcell growth factor (stimulation of B cell by T cell)
Tcell growth factor and regulator of T cell function
What type of Tcell response is IL-10 produced by?
TH2 response, may suppress TH1 cytokines
What interleukin stimulates TH1 response?
IL-12
What is the primary mediator of septic shock in humans?
TNFalpha, responsible for vascular damage and fever
Describe TH1 response
activate CMI by producing IL-2, IFN gamma, TNFbeta
promoted by IL-12
Describe TH2 response
active B cells by producing IL-4, IL-5, IL-6
What is IL-5’s function?
B cell growth factor and differentiation factor
