Q
What is the function of IgG
A
Main Ig in acquired immunity
- Has the capability to cross placental barrier
- High levels in chronic infection
2
Q
What is the function of IgM
A
- Part of the membrane receptor of naïve B lymphocytes (BCR)
- Form found in the serum, secreted early in acquired immune response
- Conc is high during early infection
3
Q
What is the function of IgA
A
- Found in GI, resp and urogenital tract mucosa and breast milk, tears and saliva
- Prevents the colonization by pathogens
4
Q
What is the function of IgD
A
-Membrane Ig, part of BCR Immune integrity→ increased in myelomas
5
Q
What is the function of IgE
A
Involved in all allergic and parasitic processes
-Interacts with basophils and mast cells to cause histamine release
6
Q
Which is the heaviest Ig
