Symptoms of rubella
A
Red or pink spotty rash - takes 2-3 weeks to appear - starts behind ears and spreads to head, neck and body - feels rough or bumpy Aching fingers, wrists or knees Temp > 38 Cough Sneezing/runny nose Headache Sore throat Sore, red eyes

Management of rubella
A
Usually self-resolving - 1 week
- rest
- hydration
- paracetamol or ibuprofen

Complications of rubella
A
During pregnancy - less than 20 weeks
- miscarriage
- structural deformities of feotus - sight, hearing, heart or brain
