immune system organs Flashcards
bone marrow
is where all white blood cells ie immune cells are produced
tonsils
in the mouth filled with a ton of iga antibodies and mucos they capture pathogens and kill them through its antibodies proteins and immune cells reisidng there
thymus
where t cells are artifically selected to make sure there safe and useful for the body to prevent auto immunity by showing all the bodies proteins and prevent an underreaction to infections by making sure he t cell binds strongly but not too strong to avoid auto immunity and too much inflamation
the spleen
same as the thymus but for b cells
the lymphatic system
the transport system for immune cells especially t and b cells
thoractic duct
where immune cells and antibodies escape the lymph nodes into the body or go into the lymph nodes
the blood brain barrier
filled with antibodies immune cells and more the lost deffended area of the body immune cells arent allowed under normal conditions only microgilia soecalized macrophages are allowed inside the rest of the immune system chille at its blood brain barrier preventing things from getting inside while microgila destroys things that do get in and if there a potential threat a small akoint of immune cells are let in with some anti inflamatory cytokines
the liver
filters the blood of patjogens by using kupfer cells macrophages that dont move but surround the liver everywhere and produces compliment proteins for the immune system
mucos
a sticky gooey substance filled with iga amtibodies and anti microbial proteins traps and kills pathogens
