A condition were part of an organism does not function properly
What is a communicable disease?
Diseases that can be spread between individuals
What is non-communicable disease?
Disease which can’t be transmitted between individuals
What is the most important part of your immune system?
White blood cells
What are B-lymphocytes?
A type of white blood cell that are involved in the specific immune response
What are the unique molecules that every pathogen has on its surface called?
Antigens
When B-lymphocytes come across an antigen on a pathogen what do they produce?
Proteins called antibodies
What do antibodies bind to?
The new invading pathogen
Why do antibodies bind to the new invading pathogen?
So it can be found and destroyed by other white blood cells
Are antibodies produced slowly or rapidly?
