what is the difference between an antigen and an antibody?
Ag - substance MAY be harmful - activates immune system. (anything non/altered self).
Ab - glycoprotein (or immunoglobulin) interacting with specific Ag. (neutralises or coats antigen).
what are the two types of immune response?
humoral (secretion) or cell-mediated.
what is the difference between primary and secondary lymphoid tissues?
primary –> immature lymphocytes acquire An recognition capacity.
secondary –> lymphocytes are activated.
what is significant about the thymus?
It is degenerate in adults as T cells are produced early in life.
what is a lymph node?
a small organ IN groups where LYMPHATIC vessels DRAIN a region.
which structures line blind-ended capillaries in which organ of which type of lymphoid?
macrophages, spleen, secondary.
