What do white blood cells do?
White blood cells are able to detect things that are foreign to the body i.e. Microorganisms.
What is the role of the immune system?
The role of the immune system is to deal with any infectious microorganisms that enter the body.
What do antibodies do?
Antibodies recognise foreign microorganisms.
What are antigens?
Substances that trigger immune responses.
What are antibodies?
proteins that are specific to an antigen.
What are memory cells?
WBC that stay in the blood after an infection has been fought off. So they remember the microorganisms antigens so they will get the right antibodies quickly if they attack again.
What is immunity?
When memory cells produce loads of antibodies to fight off microorganisms before you get ill.
