Q
Explain the process of drug testing
A
- First of all the scientists grow a real human cell in the laboratory. They do this because it measures the effects the drug has on real human cells.
- After it is successful they test it on live mammals like monkeys and rats to take out all those harmful substances before they are given to humans.
- If the drug causes serious damage to the animals then testing is likely to cease. It is also stopped when it is not effective.
4
Q
Explain the clinical trial stage
A
- First of all they test healthy volunteers to ensure the safety and to see if there are side effects.
- Then after its successful they select people with illnesses to test for effectiveness and to see if there are side effects. Then they will test a large amount of people with the illness and will repeat multiple times.
