Q

What is Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP)?

A

Immune thrombocytopenia is when antibodies are created against the glycoprotein IIb/IIIa or Ib-V-IX complex. This leads to an immune mediated reduction in platelet count and is an example of a type 2 hypersensitivity reaction.
