Why may x-rays be used to image the urinary tract?
A
To image hard objects such as stones, and a contrast may be used

Why may ultrasound be used to image the urinary tract?
A
As urine as liquid and appears black it makes the image clear and you can see dynamic changes in real time

How are PET scans conducted?
A
Radio-labelled glucose is given to the patient which lights up on PET in metabolically active tissues, and is useful in diagnosing cancer as metastatic tissues will be illuminated

What are the two modes of entry for endoscopy?
A
Through a natural orifice or via a newly made hole (laparoscopy)
