Imaging in pregnancy Flashcards
Major vs minor placenta praevia
Major: covers internal cervical os
Minor: doesn’t
Where does the lower segment of uterus come from
the cervix
What is vasa praevia
if the vessels joining placenta to umbilical cord run through the membranes
and
pass through lower segment across internal cervical os.
ie in labour, baby tries to cut its way through its own blood supply
What is placenta accreta/percreta
Why is it becoming more common?
placental trophoblast invased through endometrium (= decidua in pregnancy) and into or through myometrium
assoicated with repeat C section
3 types of foetal blood flow measurements
umbilical artery doppler
middle cerebral artery
ductus venosus
