Image Post-Processing (CTBC 7) Flashcards
Post-processing
manipulation of image data after the reconstruction (processing) process is finished
MPR are created from _______ data, not _______ data, resulting in data _______
Image
Scan
Loss
MIP
“Maximum Intensity Projection”
Displays (within the pixel) the highest value HU from the voxel
MinIP
“Minimum Intensity Projection”
Displays (within the pixel) the lowest value HU from the voxel
SSD
“Shaded Surface Display”
Creates 3D rendering of surface of imaged anatomy
(Usually uses only 10% of total image data: processing/viewing is rapid)
VR
“Volume Rendering”
Digital process of projecting entire data set (volume) into single 3D image
Benefit of VR (2)
Allows different tissue types to be displayed with different levels of transparency
Viewing multiple layers of tissue demonstrates relationship b/w them
Histogram Analysis
Provides (graph of) the frequency (“quantity”) of each HU within the area (E.g., to indicate age/stage of brain bleed)
Agatston Score
Generated by Calcium Scoring the heart
> 400 is “severe” with high risk of cardiac event
