What is beam hardening ?
A
This artefact occurs when dense objects absorb a lot of x-rays. therefore’ harden the beam’ and cause a streaking artefact.

How to reduce beam hardening ?
A
To add filters or thinner slices.

What is partial volume affect ?
A
The image is created with an average off attenuation of the tissue in each pixel. If something is off centre the average and the data collected is incorrect.

What causes a ring artefact on CT ?
A
Failure or miscalibration of one or more detector.
