What is an aortic dissection ?

when blood enters the aortic wall through a ‘tear’ ,’dissecting; a path (false lumen)

What are the types of aortic dissection ?
A
STANDFORD A occurs in accenting aorta which is the curved bit going up into aortic arch.
Most common.
STANFORD B occurs in the descending is from top of arch going down into abdominal aorta. More serious as can reduce blood flow to organs such as kidney
