II - Adrenergic Pharmacology Flashcards
Norepinephrine - primary transmitter at the symphathetic postganglionic neuron-effector cell synapse in most tissues.
Dopamine/Norepinephrine: Dopamine vasDILATES renal blood vessels while Norepinephrine vasCONTRICTS them.
Step 1. - SYNTHESIS. Tyrosine is hydroxylated by tyrosine hydroxylase to DOPA.
inhibited by METYROSINE
STEP 2. - STORAGE. Norepinephrine and dopamine are transported into vesicles.
inactivated by by monoamine oxidase in the cytoplasm. Vesicular transport nhibited by RESERPINE.
STEP 3. - RELEASE. Entry of calcium triggers interaction among SNARE proteins (VAMPs and SNAPs).
inhibited by GUANETHIDINE. Promoted by AMPHETAMINES and TYRAMINES.
Step 4. - TERMINATION. Diffusion and re-uptake via NET and DAT in synaptic cleft.
inhibited by COCAINE AND COMT Inhibitors.
