6
Q

why does the spark plug fire later on start-up

A

because if it fires before top dead center there is a chance it will force the piston in the wrong direction

10
Q

why are spark plugs placed in numbered trays during servicing

A

condition of the plugs reveals much about condition of the cylinder it came from

13
Q

what is the difference between low and high tension ignition systems

A

Low tension - Magneto only has 1 winding. transformers are located at the spark plugs and contain a secondary winding. outdated

High tension - primary and secondary coils are both located within magneto and there are no transformers. simpler

16
Q

what are the two magneto checks that need to be preformed after carrying out ignition work

A

live mag test and drop test

17
Q

why do spark plug positions need to be rotated when reinstalling

A

to equalize plug wear

18
Q

what needs to be done if a spark plug is dropped

A

Throw the plug away, as the ceramic insulator may be damaged
