blood cultures - 3 times, 3 sites
transthoracic echo ± TOE

IE - treatment

IV penicillin + gentamicin 2 weeks

then 1mo oral abx

modified duke criteria

MAJ - 2 + blood cultures, +ve echo, new valve regurgitation
MIN - RFs, fever, vascular lesions, single blood culture, immunological manifestation (osler, roth, GN)

2 major or 1 major + 2 minor
