  • a constant throbbing headache which may be worse in the morning, when leaning forward/lying down or when coughing or sneezing
  • temporary loss of vision on changing stance (sitting to standing) may occur

treatment for idiopathic intracranial hypertension

A
  • Caused by increased CSF present in the brain, therefore treatment is based around reducing CSF production – acetazolamide
  • You may also add a diuretic to excrete more fluids
