What is an idiom?
Combination of words that has a different meaning from the individual words themselves.
To sit on the fence
A person boot making a clear choice
A blessing in disguise
A benefit that isn’t recognized at first
A piece of cake
A task hat can be accomplished easily
A slap on the wrist
A very mild punishment
An arm and a leg
Very expensive
Beating around the bush
Avoiding the main topic
Cut to the chase
Get to the point and leave out any unnecessary information
Drive someone up the wall
To irritate or annoy someone
Finding your feet
To become more comfortable in whatever you are doing
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover
Don’t judge something based on its appearance
Hold your horses
Wait a moment
Barking up the wrong tree
Looking In the wrong place./ accusing the wrong person
Kill two birds with one stone
To accomplish two different things at the same time
It’s raining cats and dogs
It is raining unusually or unbelievably hard
