Syphilis - Primary, Secondary, Tertiary Symptoms
Primary = non-tender, non-painful, indurated chancre; 3-6weeksSecondary = maculopapular rash on palms/soles; condyloma lata; 2-8 weeks later; CNS manifestations possible in HIV ptsTertiary = cardiac (ascending aortitis), gummas, neurosyphilis (presents earlier in HIV pts), tabes dorsalis (broad-based gait)

Chancroid Presentation
Painful, ragged, non-indurated ulcers; may be multipleHaemophilus “do make you cry”** opposite of Syphilis (painful, indurated ulcer)
LGV Chlamydia Presentation
Inguinal bubos, proctocolitis (Syphilis of the butt)Lymphatic obstruction, causing edema/elephantitis
Gonorrhea Presentation
urethritis/cervicitis - thick, yellow dischargeasymptomaticdisseminated: monoarticular arthritis and/or dermatitislate complement deficiency **
Gonorrhea Dx
NAATS from urine or urethral/cervical secretions(Chlamydia too)
Gonorrhea Tx
ceftriaxone + azithromycintreat for chlamydia coinfection
Chlamydia Presentation
urethritis/cervicitis - thin, white dischargeasymptomaticPIDReiter’s Syndrome **
Epididymitis Bacteria Cause
**young, sexually active = gonorrhea, chlamydiaolder/not sexually active = coliform bacteria
