Ice and Rain Flashcards
What are anti iced by electrical power?
Windshield, pitot tubes, AOA sensor, pitot static tube, TAT probes, static ports.
When ice is detected what happens to the stall protection system?
The stick pusher speeds are increased.
What is considered icing conditions?
10 degrees or less and visible moisture is present.
What visibility is considered to be icing conditions?
1 mile or less and 10 degrees or less
How long is the icing signal produced for?
60 seconds
What powers the ice detection system?
DC bus 1 and 2
When are wing and stabilizer anti icing turned on?
On ground above 25kts, or in flight.
How is the spinner anti iced?
Off center rotation
How are the leading edges anti iced?
Piccolo tubes running through the leading edges of the surface.
How is piccolo tube pressure measured?
3 differential switches called piccolo drop switch. Located in each wing.
How are bleed leaks detected?
Thermostats near each duct connection.
Which side of the system is the horizontal stabilizer connected too?
Left side.
How is windshield heat accomplished?
Eclectically heated through and electric conductive film embedded between layers.
How many windshield heat sensors are there and what are they used for?
3
Temperature control
Overheat
A spare
When does the anti ice have to be on for takeoff?
When icing conditions exist at or below 1500’
