APU Flashcards
How is the 40c11 and 40c14 controlled?
40c11- electronic sequencing unit
40c14- FADEC
What is the APU oil system?
Self contained lubricating system integrated with an accessory gear box.
Which tanks does the APU draw fuel from?
Right tank
How much fuel does the APU burn?
95 - 160lbs per hour
How can you close the APU fuel valve?
APU master knob off APU stop button APU fuel shut off button APU fire extinguishing button Fire test button + 10 seconds Fire warning on ground -+ 10 sec.
What style generator does the APU have?
28 volt dc style generator
Can the APU generator replace engine generators?
Yes
What side of the electrical system is the APU generator normally connected too?
The right side
What happens when you press the stop button on the 40c11?
An overspeed signal is sent to the electronic sequencing unit.
What happens when you press the stop button on the 40c14?
A stop signal is sent to the FADEC. The over speed protection is tested on start up.
What has to happen before the master knob is turned off?
The APU is less than 5%
When does the APU shut down on the ground?
Fire, over temp, overspeed, underspeed, fail to start, fail to accelerate, fail to light, loss of speed data, external short, loss of FADEC signal, FADEC failure, bleed opening, low oil, high oil temp, oil pressure short, loss of EGT.
How will the APU shut down in flight?
Overspeed, underspeed, loss of speed, fail to start, fail to accelerate, fail to light, external short, loss of FADEC signal or failure.
What are the two ducts for under the APU?
Left side compartment cooling right side starter cooling. When looking towards the tail.
