This shows he has fond memories of the place, the metaphor “flood” illustrated how all the memories came back to him at once

This shows that the cigar symbolises his wealth and social status as he is now in a place where he belongs with people like him

This shows that in a place he used to call home he is now being treated as a traveller who doesn’t belong there

This shows that he feels a lack of connection during the visit highlighting how he feels isolated from his come country

Thie introduces the fact that he bis a wealthy mean, proud of it and wanting to show it off
