i want die Flashcards
to die
Describe the relationship between force, mass, and acceleration
f=ma
Explain the relationship between distance, speed, and time
S=d/t
acceleration
A = m/s-2
A = v-u/t
acceleration = the final velocity minus the initial velocity over time
Define energy and identify the unit for energy
Energy is the ability to do work
Energy is measured in joules
LAW of cinservation of ebergy
The law of the conservation of energy is that energy can not be created nor destroyed, only transferred or transformed
what thing makes appliances not 100% efecant??
Through factors such as heat loss, resistance in wires and friction, appliances can not be 100% efficient
WHAT IS CONVECION
Convection: The transfer of heat through means of a fluid, when a region of fluid is heated it becomes less dense causing it to rise displacing the colder fluids this constant movement distributes the heat throughout the fluid
CONDUCION????
The transfer of heat through direct contact between particles. When a region of particles are heated they gain kinetic energy transferring it to neighboring particles through collisions. This causes heat to spread throughout the substances
identify situations where waves transfer energy
Sound waves in air
Ocean waves on water
Light waves from the Sun
Wavelength
the distance between successive crests of a wave
Frequency and what is it measured in??
number of waves passing a fixed point in a given amount of time
Measured in units call hertz
Amplitude
distance from the max disturbance to the undisturbed position (max to mid)
Difference between frequency and period
frequency is how often the wave happens while period is the time it takes to happen
Explain, using the particle model, the transmission of sound in different mediums
Sound travels through mediums in longitudinal waves, waves of compressions and rarefactions
how do we use waves in our lives
Radio Waves: Used in radio, TV, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth.
Microwaves: Cooking, satellite communication, radar.
Infrared Radiation: Remote controls, thermal imaging.
Describe the occurrence and some applications of absorption, reflection and refraction in everyday situations
Absorption: solar panels
Refection: mirrors
Refraction: glasses
