A
Unconscious pt without a gag
Ineffective ventilation with BVM & basic airway management
> 10 mins of ventilation
Unable to intubate

I-Gel - contraindications
A
Upper airway obstruction or suspected epiglottitis
Strong jaw tone or trismus
Intact gag reflex or resistance to intubation

I-Gel - precautions
A
Inability to put pt in sniffing position
Pts who require high airway pressures - may unseat I-gel
Vomit in the airway
Paeds with large tonsils
