Independent films are produced by smaller production companies. They do not follow the same
formula as studio films. Instead, they vary in style and genre

The process where one company acquires another that’s specialised in another area of industry. For example, a production based company owning a distributing company.
Horizontal integration
The process where one company in one area of industry acquires another in the same area of industry. For example a distribution company owning another distribution company.
