Hypoxia Flashcards
What is hypoxaemia characterises by?
Low PaO2 and SaO2
What are the 4 types of hypoxia?
Hypoxaenia
Anaemia
Stagnant hypoxia
Histoxicity
What characterises anaemia?
Normal PaO2 and SaO2 but little haemoglobin
Often with fewer RBC
Risk factors of anaemia
Demographic- old, teen, female, immigrant
Diet- low iron, low vit c, excess tea/coffee
Social/physical- poverty, depression, alcohol
What characterises is ischaemic hypoxia?
Normal PaO2 and SaO2 and haemoglobin but low blood flow
What causes stroke
Sudden reduction in blood flow or inter cranial bleeding (rare)
Thrombosis
Embolism
Atherosclerosis
What characterises histotoxicity?
Normal PaO2, SaO2, haemoglobin and blood flow but inability of tissue to use O2
