Thyroid gland is underactive resulting in thyroid hormone deficiency

Clinical features - symptoms caused by decreased metabolism
- Fatigue
- Cold intolerance
- Weight gain
- Constipation
- Bradycardia
Clinical features - physical symptoms
- hair loss
- cold, dry skin
- Pertibial and periordbital edema
Why does primary hypothyroidism cause hyerprolactinaemia?
- Increased level of thyroid releasing and thyroid stimulating hormone
- Increases prolactin secretion aswell
Clinical features - hyperprolactinemia
- secondary amenorrhea, menorrhagia
- galactorrhea
- erectile dysfunction
- decreased libido

- impaired memory and concentration
